Segers quality 650 (Batavia) has a long-staple 100% cotton fiber. Batavia is a weaving technique that makes the fabric double-sided. The name originally comes from a silk fabric in the Batavia technique. Batavian gets a special whiteness and fine luster in the finishing.
Important to consider for garments with Indigo dyeing is that these contain excess dye and can dry/wet bleed before it has been washed out. The majority of Segers Denim items are garment washed once before delivery, but Indigo-dyed garments often need more washes to stop bleeding. How many washes may be needed depends on how light or dark the garment is. Keep in mind that dry bleeding can occur on light furniture, untreated wood, light clothes, underwear, and shoes.
When choosing garments made with wool blend quality, it is very important to carefully follow the washing instructions on the garment. Choose a detergent for wool and do not use fabric softener. Wash inside out, use a gentle wool program, and then hang dry your garment. Always use a pressing cloth when ironing.
Clean leather and hide continuously. At least once a year if it is something you use often. Take a wet cloth or rag, rub in gall or saddle soap. Wipe off with a clean damp cloth.
TENCEL™ is a natural material and serves as a good alternative to cotton. TENCEL™ lyocell is made from cellulose from tree species grown on sustainable plantations. The structure of the fiber allows it to release 50% more moisture than cotton, is especially silky and gentle on the skin, and provides a cool feeling. It is also very resistant to bacteria.
The goods that Segers purchases with recycled polyester come from traceable, used PET bottles with GRS certification that are shredded, melted down, and converted into small chips. The chips are then melted down and extruded into yarn, which is then woven into fabric together with other yarns.
Modern and durable workwear is a must in the restaurant and healthcare sectors. But textile production is a burden for people and the environment. To take greater responsibility and lead the development towards more environmentally friendly production, Segers actively works with environmental issues.
In Segers' collections, classic and trendsetting models are mixed. The common denominator is functionality and durability. Regardless of the garment, Segers always wins in the end.
