Our journey towards reduced CO₂ emissions

At Segers Fabriker, sustainability is a central part of our operations, and we continuously work to reduce our environmental impact. During the last period, we handled 28,317 shipments, resulting in total emissions of 126,423 kg of carbon dioxide. The largest portion of these emissions, 81%, comes from road transport.

We are aware that air freight today accounts for only 1% of our shipments, yet it represents 16% of our total emissions. We have made great progress by minimizing all incoming air deliveries. One remaining challenge is air deliveries to our customers worldwide. We are actively working to reduce the need for express air deliveries within Europe, as road transport is a more environmentally friendly option. Additionally, we plan to establish warehouses in North America together with a partner, which can reduce emissions from transport to the USA and Canada by up to 90%.

We offset some of our emissions through DPD's CO₂-neutral certificate, as part of our long-term strategy for more efficient transport solutions. We continue to develop our efforts and plan to include more areas in our reporting going forward, to further reduce our climate footprint.
